Red light therapy

  • Cellular energy

Red light therapy delivers safe, concentrated wavelengths of therapeutic light to your skin and cells, where it reduces oxidative stress and stimulates cellular energy production (adenosine triphosphate, or ATP).

Light from the sun powers life on earth, and humans are no exception. We’re powerful animals with trillions of cells, and each one of them needs energy to do their job and keep our bodies in balance. We convert this energy from food every second, and do so most efficiently in a vital process called cellular respiration.

  • Healing

With more cellular energy, the cells work more effectively at repairing and regenerating damage in the body.

Extensive research shows that Red light therapy has a strong clinical record for healing wounds, scarring and incisions, and helps people recover from surgery faster, with less pain and inflammation.

Researchers determined that red light therapy significantly increased tensile strength and wound contraction, for faster, more effective healing results across the body.

Red light promotes new blood vessels and tissue formation, leading to faster overall healing times for injuries and wounds.

  • Pain & inflammation

A central therapeutic effect of red light therapy is the reduction of pain and inflammation. Red light therapy has been shown to reduce both acute and chronic inflammation. Studies on red light therapy and wound healing have also shown how cells exposed to natural light produce new blood vessels, new fibroblasts (which create collagen and connective fibres to heal wounds) and new tissue formation—all leading to faster, stronger healing outcomes, with less patient pain.

What is infrared sauna therapy?

Hot baths and saunas have been used extensively by cultures across the globe, from the Hot Caves of Japan, the sweat lodge ceremonies of Native Americans to the Diocletian baths of Ancient Rome; the benefits of saunas has been felt for centuries.

Infrared sauna therapy differs slightly from these practices and instead harnesses new technology and science to generate infrared wavelengths that penetrate deeper into the tissues without excessive heat, making it ideal for people who can’t tolerate traditional sauna rooms.

The infrared waves aka “far-infrared” waves (FIR) have the ability to stimulate and positively affect the deep tissues of the body by penetrating below the surface of the skin, promoting mitochondrial activity (energy production) and effectively circulating heat.

Research so far demonstrates that regular use of infrared sauna therapy is a safe, affordable and effective way to reduce pain and inflammation, support detoxification pathways, improve circulation and cardiovascular function, improve skin tone and much more.

How and when to use infrared saunas

How many times you use infrared sauna therapy depends entirely on your goals, your state of health and level of vitality. It is safe to use an infrared sauna everyday and we have seen great results from clients who do this, especially for fitness and weight loss, however, 2-3x per week is what we generally recommend.

We provide in-depth guidance and advice on how to best utilise sauna therapy based on your specific needs and goals and we also recommend supplements and tools that help you replenish fully after your session.

  • Frequency: 2-3x per week

  • Duration: 30-45 minutes

  • Temperature: 45°C - 55°C
